Platform overview

One DPC™ platform, five ways to configure treatment

Rapid DPC Pro brings SharpLight’s Dynamic Pulse Control™ technology into a standalone workstation. DPC Mode provides three pulse configurations—smooth, long, and high—giving trained practitioners control over pulse delivery for different indications and treatment stages.

For hair reduction, the HR 635 handpiece supports both DPC™ and DPC™ FLOW Mode: a low-fluence, constant-motion technique that gradually accumulates heat in the follicle while CoolTip™ sapphire contact cooling helps protect the epidermis.

Five application-specific handpieces span hair reduction, inflammatory acne, textural rejuvenation, and selected vascular and pigmented lesions. Three spot sizes help match the treatment window to broader areas or more localized concerns.

A 10.2-inch colour touchscreen, closed-cycle cooling, integrated handpiece storage, and a mobile 52 kg workstation support a structured day-to-day treatment protocol.

Clinical questions, answered

Rapid DPC Pro
frequently asked questions

Practical details for clinics evaluating the platform.

Treatment eligibility, settings and aftercare must be determined by a trained SharpLight practitioner following consultation and skin testing.

What treatments is Rapid DPC Pro intended to support?

Rapid DPC Pro is an IPL workstation intended for hair reduction, inflammatory acne, textural rejuvenation, and selected vascular and pigmented lesions. The appropriate handpiece, protocol, and treatment parameters depend on the indication and patient assessment.

What is Dynamic Pulse Control (DPC™)?

DPC is SharpLight’s IPL pulse-control technology. It provides smooth, long, and high pulse configurations so trained practitioners can match energy delivery to the selected application and treatment parameters.

How is FLOW Mode different from standard DPC Mode?

FLOW Mode is an in-motion hair-reduction technique that uses lower fluence at a 3 Hz repetition rate. The handpiece moves continuously over gel to build heat gradually, while CoolTip™ sapphire contact cooling helps protect the epidermis. Standard DPC Mode delivers individual controlled pulses at up to 0.4 Hz at the highest fluence range.

Which Fitzpatrick skin types can be treated?
  • Hair reduction in DPC Mode: Fitzpatrick Skin Types I–V.
  • Hair reduction in FLOW Mode: Fitzpatrick Skin Types I–VI.
  • Skin rejuvenation, pigmented epidermal lesions, and acne: Fitzpatrick Skin Types I–V.
  • Vascular and pigmented lesion protocols: Fitzpatrick Skin Types I–IV.

A trained practitioner must select the application, handpiece, and parameters after consultation and skin testing.

How many handpieces are compatible with Rapid DPC Pro?

The platform supports eight application-specific handpieces: HR 635s, HR 635 Flow, HR 580, HR 730, SR 580, VP 535, Dual VP, and Acne 420.

What spot sizes are available?

The handpiece family includes 1.5 cm², 3.4 cm², and 6.4 cm² spot sizes. The compact 1.5 cm² Dual VP spot supports localized vascular work, while the larger 6.4 cm² options support hair-reduction protocols over broader areas.

How does the system cool the treatment area?

Rapid DPC Pro uses a closed-cycle, temperature-controlled cooling system and CoolTip™ sapphire contact-cooling windows. Cooling level is selected by application and remains available throughout treatment according to the chosen protocol.

How often are treatment sessions scheduled?

Scheduling varies by application and individual response. The manual provides these general protocol intervals:

  • Facial hair reduction: every 4–6 weeks.
  • Body hair reduction: every 2–3 months.
  • Skin rejuvenation and vascular or pigmented lesion protocols: generally every 4 weeks.
  • Acne protocols: twice weekly for at least 4 weeks, followed by reassessment.

The treating professional determines the actual schedule and should reassess progress throughout the series.

What preparation is required before treatment?

Every patient requires a professional consultation and skin test before treatment. Preparation varies by application and may include avoiding tanning and photosensitizing products, closely shaving a hair-reduction area, and reviewing medical history and medications with the treating professional.

What should patients expect after treatment?

Temporary redness, swelling, irritation, itching, or a mild burning sensation can occur. Post-treatment instructions include cooling the area when advised, keeping it clean, avoiding trauma or friction while it is sensitive, and using at least SPF 50 sun protection. Patients should follow their practitioner’s application-specific aftercare instructions and report unexpected effects.
